I know this is all vague. The idea is that Colt is an amnesiac who has been imprisoned on a deserted island for the past several years. He has spent his entire time there trying to figure out where he came from, why he’s here, and why he’s been so disconnected from the rest of the world. I think the fact that he’s the only character who can speak to us, and that he’s also a father figure, is a nice touch.
Like many other crime dramas, Deathloop has been trying it’s best to be mysterious. It’s a mystery, but it stays that way. The only hint of explanation for how Colt got his amnesia during the series finale is how he lost his wife and kid. There’s also a mystery surrounding the mysterious island. It’s always implied that it is a place that only the Black Sun gang can access. It seems like it’s still a place with a secret.
The island isn’t a secret, it’s just that no one can access it. Although it is a mystery, you can’t get too involved with it in the real world. Its just a place that only the Black Sun gang can go.
At the moment, its up to the viewer to decide if its a place we should be investigating or just another mystery. You can see its kind of like a time loop where you play a game of hide and seek. Each time you hide, you send a message to the other players and they find you. Once you do this enough times, you become the island’s leader. So theres no telling what we’ll find down there.
The game appears to be set in a future where there are no more Black Sun gangs and the world is full of corruption and chaos. The player is a member of the Black Sun Gang, which was the dominant gang in the past. Players are recruited by the leaders of other gangs, and then given their own gang and assigned missions by the leaders in order to help them achieve their goals.
